Head of AI – Global FinTech Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Full Relocation Support Provided Overview: A leading global FinTech platform is seeking a Head of AI to spearhead the development of next-generation AI-powered products, intelligent automation, recommendation systems, and AI-native engineering capabilities. The company operates in >100 markets, serving millions of users through a highly scalable, real-time financial platform with significant daily transaction volume. With a strong international engineering presence and substantial investment in AI, the organization is focused on advancing AI capabilities in customer experience, platform intelligence, operational automation, and developer productivity. This role provides the opportunity to lead large-scale AI initiatives and shape the future AI architecture and engineering culture of a rapidly expanding international technology company. Responsibilities: - Lead the company’s AI strategy, architecture, and technical execution across multiple AI domains. - Build and manage a high-performing AI engineering and algorithms organization. - Drive AI-native development practices to enhance engineering productivity and innovation. - Develop scalable AI platform capabilities and reusable AI infrastructure. - Lead the development of recommendation systems, including: - Retrieval - Ranking - Re-ranking - Personalization pipelines - Build and deploy production-grade LLM-powered applications utilizing: - Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) - Fine-tuning - Agent frameworks - Multi-modal AI - Enterprise knowledge systems - Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver measurable AI impact across the organization. - Establish robust engineering standards, AI governance practices, and a strong technical culture. - Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies in generative AI and applied AI engineering. Requirements: Required: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields; advanced degrees preferred. - 8+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering with prior leadership experience. - Proven track record of deploying AI systems in large-scale production environments. - Deep engineering experience in recommendation systems, including: - Retrieval - Ranking - Re-ranking - Personalization systems - Strong hands-on experience implementing LLM applications and AI workflows in production. - Experience with: - Prompt engineering - Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) - Fine-tuning - Agent architectures - AI evaluation workflows - Experience building enterprise knowledge systems and scalable AI infrastructure platforms. - Strong business acumen and product-oriented mindset. - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred: - Experience in global technology companies, consumer internet platforms, or AI-focused organizations. - Experience building AI platforms, MLOps ecosystems, or AI infrastructure tooling. - Familiarity with AI coding assistants and AI-native development workflows. - Mandarin Chinese language capability is highly preferred due to frequent collaboration with regional stakeholders and engineering teams across APAC.
