Legal Director Key Responsibilities: - Provide clear, pragmatic advice on legal risks, weighing pros and cons to support business decisions. - Work closely with external legal counsels to prepare, review, and advise on various types of agreements and contracts. - Oversee compliance and regulatory matters. - Review transactions and projects, and conduct compliance checks to ensure projects are executed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the latest regulatory requirements. - Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of business documents arising from the day-to-day operations of the business in Hong Kong. - Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the most updated regulations, policies, and laws concerning the Hong Kong business environment. - Train internal staff on company practices, relevant regulatory and compliance requirements, and general legal and risk management issues. Requirements: - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in law; legal qualifications holder is preferred (Hong Kong / China / UK / US / Australia). - At least 8 years of solid legal and compliance experience, ideally from the financial services industry; experience with China companies is preferred. - Good knowledge of capital markets, financial products, and securities regulations (such as the SFO, HKEx listing and trading rules, and SFC Code of Conduct), with a basic understanding of cross-border regulatory requirements such as CSRC rules. - Ability to review and draft documents and agreements in both English and Chinese is a must. - Ability to make independent decisions and provide commercially savvy advice. - Self-motivated professional, diligent, detail-oriented, with good business acumen. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels. - Fluent in Mandarin and English; Cantonese is a plus.
